The CRISPIE Nextcloud environment provides browser, desktop, and mobile access for project-based research data storage with automatic policy-based access controls.

What users should expect
Users log in through an approved institutional or federated identity provider. Access is controlled by policy, valid email attributes, and automatic group assignment. The service is intended for institutional and federated access by partner organizations.
Logging in

- Institutional Single Sign-On (SSO).
- CILogon, where institutional credentials are facilitated through CILogon.
- OpenID Connect (OIDC).
- Other federated identity providers.
- Local Nextcloud credentials, if enabled.
Email and group requirements
Valid email required
Your login account must provide a valid email address. If your account has no email address, login will be denied and access will not be granted. Contact your IT administrator if your email is missing or incorrect.
Understanding groups
Groups control folder access, file sharing permissions, and visibility of shared resources. Example groups include Edge, Rutgers, NJIT, and Unauthorized. Users are added automatically based on policy.
File access and sharing basics
Upload files
- Click + then Upload.
- Drag and drop files into folders.
- Use the web UI for interactive file work.
Share files
- Click the Share icon.
- Add users or groups.
- Choose read or write permissions carefully.
Access anywhere
- Use a web browser.
- Use the desktop sync client.
- Use mobile apps for iOS or Android.
Cannot log in?
Try these checks
- Verify you are using the correct login provider.
- Ensure your email address is valid and correct.
- Confirm your organization is a partner in the NSF CRISPIE project.
- Try logging out and logging back in.
- Contact support if the issue persists.

- Email domain is not approved.
